Visionary Copper & Gold is a Canadian mineral exploration company building value across a portfolio of high-grade base and precious metal projects. The crown jewel of Visionary is the legendary Point Leamington deposit located in Newfoundland. This hot spot represents a substantial copper-gold-zinc-silver volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) system with 5.0 Mt of Indicated resource and 13.7 Mt of Inferred, besides high-grade material beyond the pit shell. Crucially, this entire resource sits within a mining lease, which simplifies the process of moving toward development.
2025 restart
Modern work resumes after 20 years
In 2025, after a lull of over 20 years with no modern exploration activity, Visionary acquired Point Leamington and is advancing it to complete a new Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) of the site. Point Leamington strategically lies on one of Canada’s richest VMS belts and displays geological similarities to other successful Newfoundland mines, including the Ming Mine, signalling substantial opportunities for expansion both beneath the surface and along strike.

Visionary also possesses two additional high-grade projects that underscore its asset depth. The company made a significant copper discovery referred to as the Rainbow deposit at its Pine Bay project in the Flin Flon district of Manitoba. Moreover, Visionary owns the Nash Creek zinc-lead-silver project at the PEA stage in New Brunswick's Bathurst camp. These satellite assets help highlight that Visionary is not a “one-trick pony”, adding depth and options across the portfolio.

The mining operation has several uncharted expansion zones, which exist both underground and along the mineral vein system, so the next drilling phase will focus on true discovery-driven growth rather than basic expansion of known resources. Visionary operates under the direction of a battle-tested technical and leadership team, which has demonstrated success in finding and developing VMS deposits. The board members and advisors consist of a former Hudbay CEO who established multiple Flin Flon mines and the first person to discover Point Leamington, and award-winning geologists and metallurgists who worked at Noranda, Barrick, and Hudbay. The team operates as a mine-building team which specializes in transforming geological potential into actual economic value rather than functioning as a promotional group.

Visionary Launches First Modern Drill Program at Point Leamington in Over 20 Years

Drilling Restarts
In recent news, Visionary revealed its exploration program, marking the first drilling at Point Leamington in over 20 years. To reinforce the opportunity, a newly issued two-year permit backs the exploration program. The program will target several priority areas identified using historic drilling data and modern geophysical surveys.
EM Targets Along Strike
A key area of focus includes airborne electromagnetic anomalies located along strike of the existing resource, which will be drill-tested to evaluate potential extensions of near-surface mineralization. The program also includes re-sampling historic drill core and targeted drilling across approximately 150 metres of strike to assess copper and gold-rich mineralization within the existing pit-constrained area that was not previously sampled in detail.
Core Rework + Tight Drilling
CEO, Max Porterfield, explained in the September news release that present market dynamics support advancing the project and that the program is designed to expand the near-surface copper and gold-rich resource at Point Leamington. The company also notes that the deposit remains open at depth and along strike, with multiple exploration targets identified for follow-up drilling.
Management Commentary
Technical advisor Dr Stephen Piercey has described Point Leamington as one of the larger VMS deposits in the Newfoundland Appalachians, noting its geological setting and similarities to other productive VMS camps in the region. Visionary’s planned exploration activities are intended to test these interpretations and further define the scale and continuity of mineralization.
